President Elect Barack Obama is quitting smoking. He is having a hard time of it according to a recent interview with Tom Brokaw. I see in this interview the kind of equivocation that I remember from my own struggle to quit almost thirty years ago. Tobacco is one of the most difficult addictions to kick. The Presidency is one of the most stressful jobs in the world and stress makes smoking really hard to stop. Let’s give him all the help and encouragement we can by sending him positive stop smoking messages at change.gov.
Barack, you have to want to quit for yourself. If you are quitting because your wife told you to, it’s not going to work.
